River Thames Cruise - Sunday July 25th

We shall meet at Benson Waterfront, Benson, Oxon, OX10 6SJ, tel: 01491 838304 www.bensonwaterfront.com at 10.00am, setting off at around 10.30 for a pleasant couple of hours’ cruising through some of the most beautiful stretches of Oxfordshire countryside. Here the Thames cuts through the Chiltern Hills and we shall cruise to The Plough, Long Wittenham for a lunch break.

Depending on time, we might travel a little further upstream, or just meander back gently to Benson, where the Marina boasts a superb  licensed restaurant on the waterside and you could have a meal or snack before returning home.

For anyone who would like to take the opportunity to combine it with a weekend break, Benson is very close to the City of Oxford and there are numerous places of interest to visit in the surrounding area.

This will be an opportunity to socialise with other members of the EBA and you are very welcome to come with or without a boat. However, please return the form below if you do intend joining us and we can ensure there are enough places and boats available. Also we shall have to let The Plough know our anticipated numbers.

Can you please send your replies to Veronica together with a remittance
of £5 per party to indicate your commitment to the cruise. I

- Sun 26th September

Salhouse Broad is situated in the countryside outside Salhouse village and a
footpath, about ¾ miles long, leads from the road to the waterside.
Google Map

The Broads Green Boat Show is the original Green boat show dedicated to sustainable boating and green energy. The aim of the Show is to encourage ‘low carbon’ propulsion for boats – rowing, paddling, pedalling, sailing, electric and biofuel-powered – as well as to promote other aspects of environmentally-friendly design and construction and this year is going to be even bigger and better!

This is a fun day out for all the family, at the privately-owned Salhouse Broad, a tranquil beauty spot in the Norfolk Broads. There will be a variety of food stalls with scrummy stuff to eat, wonderful children’s entertainment throughout the day, live music and lots and lots of useful information and things to learn.

A marquee will house stands for green traders, displays on sustainable developments in the Broads, roadshows and hands-on activities for children, with green goody bags full of handy tips, thought provoking information and water saving devices. Refreshments will be available and a traditional jazz band will provide entertainment in the afternoon.    Car parking will be available for visitors arriving by road but to encourage environmentally friendly travel a free electric water taxi service will run from Wroxham to Salhouse Broad every 45 minutes to provide visitors with a first hand experience of the advantages of quiet, electric propulsion.
